    Deccan Spice has a few specialties that I enjoy very much - for example, their special chicken biryani is incredibly tasty, as is their fried pomphret. I would even say that I like their fried pomphret more than any other place in Jersey. I definitely would order both of those things in a heartbeat.

    I'm not too keen on their other menu items, but those are both delicious! I also like that they have coupons or special offers going on sometimes that they text to your phone.

    Service was meh. Vibe was meh, but the food was very good.

    We were in Jersey City for some volunteer work nearby and tried dinner here.

    Our server was very quiet; so much so that we could barely hear him and he wasn't quick to answer questions we had about the menu.

    I ordered a soda and while water (warm water) was served before dinner - the drink I ordered came out after I was done eating despite me asking twice for my drink. On top of that it wasn't cold and it was served in the can. We had a group of 4 and our meals came out one at a time over the course of about 10 minutes or so.

    The restaurant was clean, but nothing special.

    The food was excellent! That's the good thing I would say about it. Really good food.

    If there was a 2.5 rating - it would be closer to that.

    Great example of a homey Indian place that hits the spot. I absolutely love the Andhra chicken curry - it is SO GOOD. Also the staff are so sweet - always smiling, very helpful and go out of their way to make everyone feel xomfirtable

    Update Sept 2019

    Something has changed. The food is consistently OK, the service has downgraded and the overall experience is disappointing. I order in all the time and for the last two times, the food hasn't been great and the customer service leaves a lot to desire.

    Ordered chicken 555 and special chicken biriyani. Delicious food and lassi is better than other places too. Definitely recommended.

    Service here is ok, but the food here is wonderful!!!! I highly recommend the chicken dum biryani, goat dum biryani, chettinad masala with mutton, and the fried fish appetizer.

    The tables are a little janky, but I guess it gives the place some character. The floor is extremely slippery so wear something with grip.

    Parking available on the street!
